The warm-ups were cut short,6 IS STM Lens13.
which both measure about 200 inches long, the Pilot, striped ralph lauren shirt, especially in side illumination, In a brightness for bucks contest,GE Link smart bulbs are a clear winner They put out 520 lux from the top and 380 lux from the side making them brighter than any bulbs except the LIFX bulbs (which cost several times more) The bulbs sport a clear glass globe which probably allows them to be brighter than the bulbs with opaque globes That design also makes them hard on the eye when not covered by a shade—these would look odd and might be painful in a fixture that leaves the bulb exposed The GE Link starter kit comes with two bulbs and as in the case of the Philips and WeMo systems a small plug-in gateway that allows the lights to connect to your Wi-Fi network The gateway is about the same size as the WeMo version which makes it easy to hide
The GE Link bulbs respond almost immediately to on and off commands through a smartphone though dimming was a little slower It was not irritatingly slow but definitely something a user will need to get accustomed to
As noted above GE Link bulbs don’t come with their own app The bulb’s instructions say to use the Wink smart home app (though you can also connect them to a Hue hub and the Hue app) If you’re already a Wink hub user the GE Link lights will work well for you as long as you don’t object to the harshness of their light output Some users have connected them to SmartThings though they’re not officially supported by that platform The competition
The Ilumi MLA1920W color-changing bulb doesn’t connect to your network or a Zigbee bridge Instead it connects directly to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth I like the Bluetooth method for its ease—no other bulb connects as easily as a Bluetooth bulb However you’re stuck with Bluetooth’s range which in a house with walls doors and stairs usually means you lose connections when you leave the room This was the case with Ilumi and while that’s not a problem if you’re using it for a little ambiance when you’re in the room it’s a dealbreaker for whole-home lighting control And currently like the other Bluetooth bulbs I tested it doesn’t integrate with other smart home devices Expect a slight delay when dimming or changing the color over the app
The Ilumi was bright measuring 700 lux from the top and 240 lux from the side and its colors were considerably richer than any other Bluetooth smart bulbs I used The Ilumi app allows the creation of groups and scenes and the app lets you create “experiences” which basically means you can have the light change colors in sync with music—something I don’t have any interest in but you might I might recommend this bulb if it was cheaper but at the same price as the LIFX there’s no reason to get this over the that if you’re interested in a system that doesn’t require a bridge in the first place
The Nyrius and Ilumi smart bulbs
Nyrius’s Wireless Smart LED Multicolor Bulb is the cheapest color-adjustable bulb I tested but it’s also the weakest in light output It peaked at 310 lux from the top and 150 lux from the side Its dimming capability is also anemic When dimmed down all the way it still measured about 50 lux from the top of the bulb
The Cree Connected smart bulb cost about the same as the GE Link bulbs and also use Zigbee making them compatible with both the Wink hub and the Philips Hue gateway It’s the only smart LED I tested that puts out more light from the sides (350 lux) than from the top (250 lux) Even so its side light output was dimmer than the GE Link so there’s no reason to prefer the Cree over the GE Like the GE the Cree bulbs suffered from a slight delay to app commands
The Cree Connected and LinearLinc bulbs
LinearLinc Bulbz (also sold under the GoControl brand) is the only Z-Wave bulb I tested and the only one I could find It works well with both the Wink and SmartThings hubs (and presumably with other Z-Wave smart home hubs) Putting out 520 lux from the top and 360 from the side it’s brighter than many of the bulbs we tested but also more expensive—twice the price of Cree or GE Unlike the Cree and GE bulbs the LinearLinc bulbs responded almost immediately to app commands If keeping your smart home devices within a Z-Wave ecosystem is important to you these bulbs will light the way What to look forward to
The biggest problem with the variety of products in the smart home market is that so many of them are incompatible with each other Smart-home hubs solve some of those problems as does the crazy successful Amazon Echo
There are already several smart bulbs that include non-lighting features like music or video cameras While we’re not huge fans of those we expect to see more and if there’s interest we’ll check them out
Philips recently announced a new bulb the White Ambience which differs from the white bulb in this review in作者:
